Lucy Xiang-fu Wainger

grew up at Ground Zero.

She is the author of How to Write an Essay (Red Mare Press, 2026), winner of the Micro Chapbook Prize, and In Life There Are Many Things (Black Lawrence Press, 2023), winner of the Black River Chapbook Competition.

She holds an MAT in Elementary Education from National Louis University, an MFA in Poetry from UMass Amherst, and a BA in English from Emory University, where she received the Louis B. Sudler Prize in the Arts.

She currently lives in Chicago and teaches middle school ELA.
